New Humberside-Copenhagen service boosts business travellers
Yorkshire business travellers have been boosted by the launch of a new direct scheduled service from Humberside Airport to Copenhagen, providing the only non-stop Scandinavian link from the Humber, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire region, on Monday 28 October.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is introducing five flights a week from Humberside to the Danish capital with timings aimed at business travellers and also those connecting onto onward flights within Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
The new year-round service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with weekday flights departing from Humberside at 7.15pm, arriving in Copenhagen at 9.50pm local time.
Weekday flights from Copenhagen take off at 6.10pm local time, arriving in Humberside at 6.45pm.
Sunday services depart from Humberside at 2.55pm and leave Copenhagen at 1.50pm local time.
A 50-seater CRJ200 regional jet aircraft will operate the service. Fares start from £103 one way, including taxes and charges.
Paul Litten, Humberside Airport’s commercial director, said: “Our new convenient service to Copenhagen is the only non-stop service to Scandinavia from the Humber, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire region, which will save business travellers and leisure passengers valuable time.
“This latest development from Humberside demonstrates both our commitment along with SAS’s to support the business community with a valuable air link that enhances the region’s transport connections and helps businesses to further grow and prosper.
“With over two million people within an hour’s drive of the airport, the Humberside – Copenhagen service will benefit tourists and leisure travellers heading to the Scandinavian and Baltic countries and also visiting our region.”
Hans Dyhrfort, SAS’s regional general manager Western Europe, commented: “This is a major milestone for SAS, as we will start providing the only non-stop, direct service to Scandinavia from the Humber, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire region.
“With the area on its way to becoming the renewable energy capital of the UK, the Humber region is an important northern hub and area of development for SAS.”
