Yorkshire's NG Bailey wins £9.9m NHS contract

The engineering division of Ilkley-headquartered NG Bailey has been awarded a £9.9m contract to deliver mechanical and electrical (M&E), public health and information management and technology (IM&T) services to The Harbour, the new in-patients unit for the Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Working alongside main contractor Integrated Health Projects, a joint venture between VINCI Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, the Ilkley-based company will provide mechanical and electrical services throughout the building and install heating, ventilation and cooling throughout, as well as a stand-by generator and HV transformer.

NG Bailey’s IT Services division will also provide an IP-based security system, which will include access controls, electronic door locking systems, CCTV and intruder alarms.

The Harbour development – which will become operational in early 2015 – is part of the Trust’s on-going commitment to modernising in-patient services and improving the quality of care it delivers.

The new unit will create a more therapeutic environment for the people who use the service and better working conditions for staff.

Managing director of NG Bailey’s engineering division, Mike Darlington, said: “This is a fantastic project and we’re delighted to have been chosen to provide the services required.

“By pairing up with our IT Services division, it has enabled us to meet the specific requirements of the client’s brief and provide a bespoke, full service solution.”

NG Bailey is already engaged in the pre-commencement phase and will start work on site in November.
