MD of Rotherham’s Gala Tent wins Business Person of the Year accolade
Jason Mace, managing director of Rotherham-based marquee and gazebo manufacturer Gala Tent, has won this year’s ‘Business Person of the Year’ Award from Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce.
Mace, whose clients include the military, the NHS, the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Police Service, St John’s Ambulance and AA, was commended for the way he spotted an opportunity when he started the Gala Tent business and revolutionised the marquee industry, making it more affordable to buy than to hire a marquee.
At the event it was said that it also proved how he has grown his business in more challenging economic times, by responding to customer feedback and developing new, cutting edge marquees, gazebos and event accessories.
Mace was recognised by the judging panel for “his innovative approach, sheer determination and how is constantly investing in new product development to stay ahead of the market.”
He was presented with his award by sponsor Richard Stewart, service manager of Bull Information Systems, at a ceremony at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on Friday 18 October.
Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, said: “It was a great surprise to be chosen as the Business Person of the Year.
“There were some really strong contenders in this category and it’s a real honour to take the title.
“I hope that the work I do, not only in my business life, but also in the local community and in encouraging young people to learn more about enterprise, will help to inspire and create new entrepreneurs of the future.”
Founded in 1999, Gala Tent has grown to sell over 10,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products.
