Two Yorkshire businesses in line for UK tech awards

Sheffield’s WANdisco and Leeds’ Accumuli have been shortlisted for two awards at this year’s PwC-sponsored national UK tech awards.

Software company WANdisco will battle it out against some of the country’s leading technology companies for the Tech Innovation of the Year, whilst its CEO, Dave Richards, is in the running for Personality of the Year.

Established in 2005, the business floated on the London Stock Exchanged in 2012 raising £15m, leading it to win Best Technology Award at this month’s AIM Awards.

Accumuli, the Leeds-based IT security specialist, is also shortlisted for Tech Achievement of the Year award.

Andy Ward, managing partner at PwC in Sheffield, said: “In our continuing support of the UK tech sector, we have updated the techMARK awards to reflect the UK technology industry as it is today, by creating the UK Tech Awards.

“They now include the contribution all companies make to the industry, not only publicly quoted techMARK companies, but also AIM tech companies and fast growing and innovative privately owned tech companies.

“The nominations for WANdisco, as well as its recent AIM award win, show the stellar growth and success it has experienced since it was founded.

“Having Yorkshire companies recognised nationally puts the region on the map as having a dynamic pool of talent and home to leading technology companies.”

The winners of the UK tech awards will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on Wednesday 20 November 2013.
