Strong first quarter for expanded Manchester office of Mills & Reeve

The Manchester office of Mills & Reeve has reported a strong first quarter following the firm’s merger with George Davies on 1 June 2013.

Speaking at the official launch party of the enlarged firm, partner and head of the Manchester office, Mark Hovell, confirmed the 100 strong office, including 19 partners, is expecting to grow further as consolidation of law firms continues across the city.

“We are now very close to full service here in Manchester and, with the added resources of our wider national teams, can cover all of the legal work which our clients need to have dealt with,” said Mark.

“Mills & Reeve’s most important objective is to provide high quality legal services to our clients. Post merger we have people able to offer more services to our corporate clients, our public sector clients, our insurance clients and our private clients. Our service offering covers the “heavy lifting” areas of corporate and commercial, real estate, employment and commercial disputes, while we also have specialists in sport, family, construction, corporate tax and property disputes, among others.”

Mills & Reeve’s successful first quarter has so far seen the firm’s work span advising on the University of Manchester’s £300m public bond; instruction from the Royal Northern College of Music on the redevelopment of the concert hall, lecture theatre and technical production areas; and shortlisted in the Northwest Football Awards 2013 for outstanding provision of professional services to football. The firm has also been appointed to work with national charity Joining Jack, which is dedicated to finding treatments for Muscular Dystrophy.

In addition to carrying out legal work, Mills & Reeve is keen to be engaged in the local community and is supporting local and national charities such as the Alzheimer’s Society whose garden won a gold medal at this year’s RHS Tatton Park show and North West based children’s hospices.
