World of James Herriot lines up for White Rose Tourism Awards

The World of James Herriot in Thirsk has been named as one of six finalists for the Small Visitor Attraction Award in the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Tourism Awards for 2013.

Representatives of the attraction will be in attendance at the ceremony at New Dock Hall Leeds on Monday 11 November with other finalists, who are also members of the Herriot Country Tourism Group, including Beningborough Hall, Thief Hole Cottages, Yorebridge House, Feversham Arms & Verbana Spa, The Rendezvous Hotel, The Carpenters Arms and the Wensleydale Heifer.

The World of James Herriot managing director and chairman of the Herriot Country Tourism Group, Ian Ashton, said: “This is a real boost for the World of James Herriot and the Herriot Country Tourism Group who have all contributed to continuing to develop the area and welcoming guests from all over the world.

“The finalist selections follow hotly on the heels of our recently launched Herriot Group smartphone App and the James Herriot Statue and Legacy Fund.

“Whilst this is not yet the final result, to have so many businesses at the awards shows the efforts that our partners in the Herriot Country Tourism Group are making to deliver quality in the area.”
