Ben is Innov8 Superstar
Innov8 IT Asset Disposal is a growing company covering the UK, developing solutions for secure IT/waste electrical equipment disposal. Based in the North East, Innov8’s workforce has been steadily increasing year on year and the Apprenticeship scheme has been a fantastic way of uncovering new talent for them to nurture.
So much so that in just short of a year, Ben Armitage – one of Innov8’s Business Administration Apprentices – inspired his manager to nominate him for a Superstar Award. The awards celebrate unsung heroes in business, honouring those who go the extra mile to really make a difference in the workplace and took place in Jesmond, Newcastle on Wednesday 20 November 2013. Ben was put forward for the ‘Jack and Jill of all Trades’ category as someone who takes on any task they are set with a smile and performs over and above what is expected.
Ben’s achievements were such, that although Ben didn’t win his category, a separate award was created within the overall winner category as a ‘Rising Star’. Ben was described by the judging panel as “a remarkable young man” who warranted an award category created in order to commend him for his achievements.
So impressed with Ben’s commitment to his role, his manager Gemma Cooper, explained that Ben had recently been awarded a pay rise to support his Apprenticeship wage. “We have also propelled Ben on to full pay a month before completion of his Apprenticeship to show our gratitude for his continual effort”. Innov8 have now created a full time role for Ben, incorporating his skills and knowledge to help grow the company and thereby creating a vacancy for a new Business Administration Apprentice; a hard act to follow for certain!
