Cengage Learning Deploys Talend to Create a Better Educational Experience with Big Data

Open source integration leader chosen over incumbent provider based on technology leadership and cloud readiness

Talend, the global integration software leader, announced today that Cengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company for the academic, professional and library markets, has chosen Talend for the deployment of its Big Data platform. This initiative positions Cengage Learning as the industry leader in understanding student product usage, learning objectives and learning outcomes across multiple products and platforms.

Using the cloud for the company’s Big Data initiative enables the IT department to be more responsive in terms of how much data can be consumed, while allowing them to leverage automatically-generated MapReduce jobs to analyse Big Data to find correlations, causation and relationships. By adding Talend’s Data Services capabilities, Cengage Learning is also able to provide a stable and evolutionary data movement and delivery architecture that will support other initiatives and projects moving forward.
