Students raise money for Barnardo’s with Christmas market

Students and staff at the City of Liverpool College are raising money for Barnardo’s by holding a Christmas market, complete with market stalls, competitions, Christmas movies and pamper treatments.

The market will be held on the 12 December at the College’s main campus building, the Learning Exchange on Roscoe Street and will be open from noon onwards.

There will be 30 stalls offering everything from toys and jewellery to baking goods and mini makeovers. Students will also be offering a Christmas wrapping service and there will a spot the ball competition with Everton Football Club and a raffle where entrants can win signed Liverpool and Everton football shirts.

Colette Mckenna, Head of Employability at the college said: “We are hoping to raise lots of money for Barnardo’s Action with Young Carers Project which was set up to support young carers living in Liverpool. The young carers are young people under 18 who provide care for a family member with an illness or disability.

“The Christmas market is also student led and is giving our students here experience of organising events, dealing with the public and showcasing the skills they have learnt at the college.”
