Yorkshire-founded estate agency group opens new Sheffield office

Hunters, the fast-growing, York-founded independent estate agency group, has expanded its reach in its birth county by opening a new office in Chapeltown, Sheffield.

Chapeltown, an area popular with commuters and families looking for affordable homes within easy reach of the city centre and M1, is the latest area in the Group’s heartland targeted for strong growth.

Having opened its first branch 21 years ago in York, Hunters now has over 100 branches nationwide, with a stronghold in Yorkshire and other branches across Sheffield in Crookes, Hunter’s Bar, Woodseats and Stocksbridge.

Andy Bushell, sales director at Hunters Property Group, said: “The market is extremely buoyant for buyers and sellers alike in Yorkshire at the moment.

“Our York office recently reported that every sale they had negotiated in that week had gone to ‘best offers’ with buyers having to submit their offers in writing by a specified time and date.

“As a consequence, prices are certainly moving upwards across Yorkshire and I think we will see increases across the UK of around 5% in 2014.

“To add yet another branch in our home county, which is at the forefront of such a sales revival, is extremely exciting and we plan to continue looking for new franchise opportunities over the next few years as the market continues to strengthen.”

Barry Upson, the new franchisee of Hunters Chapeltown, has run his own successful family lettings business, Big Fish Lettings, since 2003, initially in Rotherham and then branching out to Sheffield in 2008, with a portfolio covering the whole of South Yorkshire.

Upson said: “Our business has and always will be family run, but as the market continues to pick up pace, it seemed the perfect time to join the Hunters network and offer a complete sales and lettings service.”
