Yorkshire Water lead joins Finn’s corporate team

Leeds-based communications agency, Finn, has announced the appointment of Yorkshire Water’s deputy head of media relations, Matt Thompson, to its expanding corporate communications team.

With nine years’ experience managing and enhancing the reputations of some of the UK’s biggest national and regional brands, Matt joins Finn as an account director helping to lead the agency’s growing corporate portfolio.

Previously at Yorkshire Water where he was deputy head of media relations for five years, Matt also held a role at retail giant ASDA, where he was responsible for managing media relations for the business’ non-food offering.

Alison Puente, head of corporate at Finn, said: “Over the last 18 months, our corporate and B2B team has experienced huge success and we now manage the corporate reputations of a host of businesses across Yorkshire and the UK. We’ve recently added the Yorkshire office of GVA, the UK’s largest independent commercial property consultancy, and business lender Reward Capital to our client roster.

“We’re delighted to welcome Matt on board, his wealth of experience across media relations and issues and crisis handling is a true asset to Finn’s corporate offering.”

Matt joins Finn at an exciting time, with the agency growing by 30 per cent over the past year, following a host of successive client wins.

Last month, the company was named PR consultancy of the year at the MiAwards, which recognise the best talent across the UK in marketing and media.

Finn PR was also the only northern agency to secure a place in the shortlist of this year’s PRCA Awards, in the highly coveted category of PRCA Medium Consultancy of the Year. These high profile awards celebrate the cream of the crop in the PR industry, amongst agency and in-house teams across the country.

Commenting on his arrival, Matt said: “I’ve always been a fan of Finn’s creative energy and commercial approach. I’m thrilled to be part of a team which makes a difference for its clients, focused on organisational outcomes, rather than outputs and looking forward to developing creative campaigns which help to meet a client’s business objectives.”

Finn Communications was created by managing director Richard Rawlins in 2005 and provides innovative communications for major national and regional brands, including Merlin Entertainments, Pork Farms, Quorn Foods and R&R Ice Cream.
