Law firm enjoys encouraging year of growth

Stockport-based Gorvins Solicitors have announced solid results for the firm’s financial year ending 30th November 2013.

The firm grew fee income to £6.5million - a seven per cent year-on-year increase.

Gorvin’s Managing Partner, Lorraine Lockie said: “The momentum within the firm has been sustained throughout 2013, benefitting from our clients increased confidence, particularly in the second half of the year. It was pleasing to see impressive growth from our Corporate and Commercial team with a 30% increase in fee income over the previous year.

“Our Commercial Property department has also had a successful year, advising on a number of major deals, most notably; the £77m sale by Urban Splash of a residential portfolio in July to Places for People. In addition, our Private Client and Residential property team enjoyed strong growth.

“Our performance in 2013 has been a fantastic achievement at a time when the legal industry is going through such a significant change. Clients are demanding a new approach to the way they source and secure legal advice and Gorvins are well placed to adapt and meet these requirements.”

2013 has also witnessed fifteen new appointments across a number of departments including, Family & Matrimonial, Private Client, Litigation and Business Development.

In addition, Mark Deverell was unanimously elected Senior Partner with effect from 1st December 2013. He takes over the reins from Andrew Callaghan, who has retired as a partner after forty years service; although he will continue to work with the firm as a consultant in the Residential Conveyancing department.

Reflecting upon the past 12 months Lorraine Lockie added “Gorvins have celebrated some significant milestones during 2013. We have achieved, and maintained Top Tier Legal 500 status for our Commercial Property and Litigation teams.

“We congratulated a number of employees on their reaching 15, 25 and, amazingly for one of our team, 50 years’ service with the Firm. Our commitment to staff and clients is clear and growing even more as we look ahead to 2014.”
