Jobs created as North East firms join to deliver energy efficiency
Up to 30 jobs could be created as two North East business have joined forces to deliver Government energy improvement schemes.
Energy Friend and Whitfields Energu Solutions, both Durham-based, have pooled their energy expertise to deliver works under the Green Deal and EC0.
Energy Friend CEO, Colin Robinson, said: “We believe we could be looking at the creation of up to new 30 jobs as a result of this partnership.
“From energy advisors to teams of installers we will be looking to employ highly skilled local individuals to deliver the demand we’re experiencing on these schemes.”
Under Green Deal and ECO, customers can benefit from energy improvements including new boiler replacements, loft, cavity and solid wall insulation together with the installation of double glazing and renewable energy technologies.
And with this availability comes the challenge of improving the homes of some of the region’s most vulnerable people and helping to lift hundreds of north east residents out of fuel poverty.
By putting all the services under one roof, both Energy Friend and Whitfields believe they can simplify the grant claiming process.
Colin added: “Any type of grant claim is a difficult enough process but is even more so when customers are vulnerable, simply don’t know what they’re entitled to or even how to go about applying.
“And with energy improvement grant schemes these are often more complex, requiring the skills of individuals who can assess not only what a household needs to keep warm and stay that way, but also how to install systems safely and correctly.
“By putting our services under one roof, we firmly believe that we will not only simplify the process for the customer, but will also give them the reassurance that they are having their energy systems assessed and installed by reputable and long standing companies.”
