Graham Construction to create North East jobs through £1 billion framework

National builders Graham Construction say they are committed to supporting job creation in the North East following their appointment to the North East Procurement Organisation’s (NEPO) framework.

Graham is one of only eight firms to be appointed to the framework following a rigorous selection evaluation process.

The scope of this Framework will cover the requirements of NEPO for suitably qualified and experienced construction companies for works of differing values and complexities across the North East region.

Projects let under the Framework Agreement may be of a Construct Only or a Design and Construct nature with regards to development, refurbishment or remodelling of existing properties, new build projects or a combination of both.

Neil McFarlane, regional director of GRAHAM Construction, said: “We identified the North East as an important growth area for the company a few years ago and this latest success underlines the potential in the region, with latest figures indicating that the value of construction output in the North East is at its highest level since 2008.

“The North East, alongside Greater London and Wales, is set to be one of the fastest growing markets in the construction industry over the next three years. We as a company are in a fantastic position to support that growth by creating jobs on the ground strengthened by the experience and expertise of our UK-wide operation.”

The company completed a £3 million refurbishment of Witham Hall in Barnard Castle last year and is currently building 347 new student accommodation spaces at Kensington and Park Terrace for Newcastle University, set for completion later this year.

Neil added: “Despite market uncertainty in recent years our order books have remained busy. We’ve grown our workforce and increased regional presence in key areas, including the North East, meaning our clients can be assured that we have the local capacity and financial security to be a reliable and consistent partner on major projects.”
