Construction firm strengthens management team

CONSTRUCTION company Gus Robinson Developments has strengthened its management team as optimism in the sector continues to grow.

The Hartlepool-based business has appointed Steve Bell as its Land and Development Director and Dave Cutler as Electrical Manager.

Both men have extensive experience in the construction sector and have been appointed as Gus Robinson Developments seeks to grow its influence as a developer of large-scale building projects.

Steve, 40, has joined Gus Robinson Developments with more than 20 years’ experience as a site and construction manager for many of the country’s leading housing developers including Wimpey, Barratt and Bryant Homes. He also worked for four years as development manager for Teesside social housing company Vela Homes.

He has responsibility for strengthening relationships with housing associations, local authorities and land agents and identifying potential sites for Gus Robinson Developments to develop.

Steve, from Blackhall in County Durham, said: “This is a very exciting role for me and a great opportunity to come in right at the beginning of the process as the business seeks to grow its influence as a major developer.

“Gus Robinson Developments has very clear ideas and strategies for where it wants to be as a construction business and I am delighted to be at the heart of that process.”

Dave, who is 46 and from Stockton, will oversee an expanding team of electricians at Gus Robinson Developments. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the electrical industry and has returned to the North East after working for the last year in Hertfordshire.

His role will be to manage and oversee all electrical work at Gus Robinson Development’s construction sites and projects, as well as mentor and develop apprentice electricians as they develop through the business.

He said: “I am delighted to be back working in the North East as it comes at a time when there are clear signals that the construction sector is growing once more.

“We are picking up a lot of inquiries and it’s good to see that many of these are on our doorstep in Teesside. We also have very close links with Hartlepool College and I will continue to help develop our young talent and electricians as that is such an important part of the success of this business.”

The appointments come as the construction sector continues to show signs of recovery in the UK with eight consecutive months of growth.

Dan Robinson, Chairman of GRD, said: “These are very important appointments to the team at Gus Robinson Developments. Both were chosen very carefully and I wanted to bring them in because they add enormous value with their wealth of experience.

“To work at this business you have to fit into the culture we have developed and Steve and Dave both embody the passion and values of Gus Robinson Developments.”
