Newcastle law firm work on multi-million pound schools project
Newcastle law firm Ward Hadaway has played a hand in a mulit-million pound schools project in Shropshire.
The firm provided legal advice to Telford & Wrekin Council on £45 million worth of projects which will see three new schools built and two existing schools refurbished.
The process involved a number of complex land exchange arrangements and Ward Hadaway had to complete four sets of contracts in quick succession over two weeks.
Ward Hadaway’s team advising on the schemes was led by head of Public Sector Property Karen Andrews, with Partner and head of Public Sector Melanie Pears, Associates Kerry Adcock, Sara Acheson, Saji Bratch and Solicitors Jenny Wade, David Naughten and Louise Spedding.
Partner Paul Reekie and Solicitor Neil Williamson from Ward Hadaway’s Construction team also advised on the developments.
Karen Andrews said: “We are delighted to have played our part in assisting Telford & Wrekin Council to achieve the successful financial completion of this next phase in their Building Schools for the Future programme.
“The tight timescales and need to work on four projects at the same time posed a unique challenge.
“Four of the schools had changed status since the BSF funds were originally secured and this, alongside the complex land and community use arrangements, created additional challenges, all of which could only be met as a result of the Telford, Shepherd Construction and Ward Hadaway teams working hand in hand.”
