Four new deals have been completed at Sunny Bank Mills

Four new deals have been completed at Sunny Bank Mills, the iconic Yorkshire mill complex between Leeds and Bradford.

Vision Chemicals, Be Beautiful, Soundproof and Sue Wilson Photography have all moved into the refurbished mill in Farsley, where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed.

All four companies have taken space in Sandsgate, the historic 10,700 sq ft Edwardian Mill Office, which has recently undergone a £750,000 modernisation programme.

These four deals come hard on the heels of two transactions at the end of last year, which saw Leeds Foodbank (West) and Karen Gavin photography move into Sunny Bank Mills.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, commented: “We are delighted to welcome four new tenants to Sandsgate.

“We are now seeing a steady flow of new tenants into Sunny Bank Mills, breathing new life into an historic complex.

Beautician salon Be Beautiful was founded in October 2011 by Lucy Lyttle, who has over ten years’ experience in some of Leeds best beauty salons and has built up a large client base. Lucy said: “After a very busy 24 months, and after taking on additional staff, we outgrew our first property, located at 4 Town Street, Farsley. To meet the demand we looked for a larger premises within the same area. Sunny Bank Mills was the perfect choice.”

Tim Jones of chemical suppliers Vision Chemicals commented: “As our new business location we love the interior and exterior of the buildings and the lovely warm friendly environment.

“It is great to have an Art Gallery and Coffee shop just down the staircase. Customers and suppliers who have visited us think it is a great space and are wowed by it.”

Richard Tyson of Soundproof, who provide audio solutions for companies across the UK, added: “The main reason we moved to Sandsgate was the ambience of the Sunny Bank set-up.

“It felt invigorating and helped make our choice between this and similar-priced office space elsewhere.

Sue Wilson of Sue Wilson Photography, who has relocated from London, said: “ I had looked at various other business premises in the Leeds area and none could compared with Sunny Banks in terms of atmosphere, attention to detail and quality of space. It is perfect for my business.“

John Gaunt said: “These four new lettings are a vindication of our belief in Farsley as an attractive out-of- town business location, even when faced with direct city centre competition.

“The Sandsgate building now almost fully occupied, with only one small office of 226 sq ft left to lease, and features the Sunny Bank Mills Gallery which hosts arts events throughout the year,” he explained.

Mike Haigh of Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips, who are marketing Sunny Bank Mills with Jones Lang Lasalle, added: “These recent deals further vindicate the capital expenditure and attention to detail the refurbishment of Sunny Bank Mills has created”.

Stuart Andrew, the Conservative MP for Pudsey commented: “I am very impressed to see such wonderful work being done to maintain and restore the heritage of Farsley.”
