BDP appoints Tom Hewitt as International Retail Director

The Manchester studio of BDP, a major international interdisciplinary practice of architects, designers, engineers and urbanists, has appointed Tom Hewitt as International Retail Director in order to build on the success of its North West retail projects globally.

Tom has joined BDP having previously been a Director specialising in retail development at 3DReid. He was also the Head ‘Concept Coach’ with responsibility for the overall design integrity of all projects within the national and international offices as well as co-ordination of design direction for the Group.

Tom’s completed and ongoing design commissions include the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Trinity Square in Gateshead, Tipping Street in Salford and Lancaster City Centre as well as international projects in Nord Centrum and Lasnamae Centrum, Tallinn and Zhongsham Nam Lu in Nanjing.

A former president of the Birmingham Architectural Association, Tom is also a visiting critic and advisor to the Birmingham School of Architecture.

Chums appoint former Boohoo senior manager as head of marketing

Merseyside-based clothing retailer, Chums, has appointed former Boohoo and JD Sports senior manager Antony Eden as Head of Marketing.

Eden will lead Chums’ marketing efforts as the brand seeks to develop its digital offering and take advantage of the increasing number of internet users in the 60+ age bracket.

Eden was previously Head of Digital Marketing at Boohoo.com, where he led a team of over 30 covering online marketing, CRM, social media, PR and creative.

While at Boohoo.com Eden oversaw the retailer’s rapid growth into the UK’s second largest fashion pureplay and also helped launch the site internationally.

Chums has recently invested in an automated warehouse and new telephony system and is targeting significant, scalable growth and Eden is being brought in to drive this.

North West PR firm Polaris strengthens manufacturing division with globally renowned machinist Lattimer

North West PR firm Polaris Media is further strengthening its manufacturing client base after signing a deal to promote internationally renowned precision machinist Lattimer.

The media firm run by brothers Ben and Sam Pinnington will be ramping up Lattimer’s profile by promoting its three bases in Southport and Birmingham, UK, and New Jersey, USA. Polaris Director Sam Pinnington said the contract win was another strong indication of the firm’s intent to build its manufacturing, engineering and maritime client base throughout 2014.

Polaris has also strengthened its team with former Insider Media and Business Desk senior business journalist Tamlyn Jones. The media firm is now actively pursuing business leads in the Middle East and USA.
