Having the Will to leave your legacy

A host of solicitors from right across North Staffordshire and beyond are offering a free basic Will writing service in return for a donation to Douglas Macmillan Hospice; as part of their Make a Will Month campaign this May.

Traditionally the campaign lasted a week throughout May in years gone by, but due to supporter demand the campaign was extended to the entire month last year with a record £7400 given in donations and over 50 legacy gifts pledged.

Pam Woolliscroft, who works as a freelance Museum curator, is a long term supporter of the Dougie Mac, and has left a gift in her Will.

“It’s an opportunity for people to do some good after they’re gone,” she said.

“Having had personal experience with the Hospice, I found out that they were not just there for the patient; but for the family too.

“People may not be able to pay for a will at this time with the economy struggling, so Make a Will Month is the perfect opportunity to do something good for the future.”

Judith Bell, Legacy Manager added,

“Dougie Mac has been around for the people of North Staffordshire for 40 years now, thanks to the foresight of Douglas Macmillan and many people who have left gifts in their wills to allow our work to flourish.

“If you feel able to help to fulfil our vision of continuing and developing our care into the future, please get in touch for a full information pack on how to take advantage of this special month”.
