Applauding long service

Since the beginning of the year five Surgo employees have celebrated their long service with the contractor, racking up an impressive 135 years between them.

Senior site manager, Ray Lindores and joiner, Kenny Ward have both served Surgo for 30 years. Meanwhile, board director, Jeff Charlton, site foreman, Harry Birkbeck and site manager Michael Brayson have each been with the company for 25 years.

Most of the gentleman started with Surgo in a trainee capacity and have worked their way up the career ladder.

To mark the occasion of their long service and in recognition of the contribution they continue to make to the company’s ongoing success, each was presented with a small gift.

Commenting on the contractor’s ability to retain skilled construction professionals, Surgo’s managing director James Walker said: “At Surgo we take great pride in our ability to recruit and retain high calibre staff. It is always pleasing to be able to share that sense of pride by acknowledging the efforts of our employees recognising the long service they have given the company.

“Of course our appreciation isn’t limited to those with long service, it extends to the contribution made by all employees and I look forward to giving out many more awards in the future.“
