This week’s North East appointments
Six new faces have joined North East accountancy firm Tait Walker across a number of different divisions of the business, which now employs 143 staff across its offices in Newcastle, Northumberland and Tees Valley.
The new starts are; Deborah Trelease as financial planner, Nicola Edmondson as tax manager, Jon Archer as business services manager, whilst Siobhan Hooper and Craig Patterson join as business services executives. IT Graduate Victoria Johnson has also joined to strengthen the firm’s dedicated IT support team.
Tait Walker’s managing partner, Andrew Moorby said: “We place huge emphasis on bringing the right people into our business – we are always looking for locally based specialists who can work well in a team.
“Despite these recent additions we remain determined to strengthen our team further. Various parts of the practice are very busy and continue to see strong growth, particularly within our corporate finance department. Solicitor Ruth Markham has joined Newcastle-based BHP Law as an Associate.
Sunderland-based Ruth**,** who has nine years’ experience of dealing with personal injury cases including life changing catastrophic injuries, employers and public liability claims, clinical negligence and criminal injury compensation, typically works on high value cases worth up to £4 million.
She said: “There is a lot of expertise within BHP Law, which has a well deserved reputation for handling complex cases that can run for anything from two-five years or even longer. The firm’s commitment to clients and pursuing cases for as long as it takes to get the very best outcome is what attracted me.
“We get to know our clients and their families very well as these cases can take a long time to settle or come to court, which makes getting a positive result all the more rewarding.”
Pastics manufacturer SONE has recruited two business development executives, Natalie Beresford (left) and Alison Hughes.
Both have backgrounds in plastics packaging. Natalie, who will be responsible for a territory covering the south and east of the country, will draw on her experience of both flexible and rigid packaging in the beauty market to broaden the manufacturer’s growing customer base in that sector.
Meanwhile Alison, who will be covering the north and west of the UK, has experience of working with clients in both the personal care and food sectors, illustrating the diversity of her experience.
SONE’s business development manager, Tony Burnell, said: “I am pleased to announce the arrival of Natalie and Alison to the business development team.
“Thanks to their previous experience there is a certain synergy between them, and this, coupled with my own 25 years of all-round experience, adds further flexibility, as well as strength and depth to the sales team.”
Naylors Chartered Surveyors has appointed a new managing director as part of a drive to take the business forward to new levels in what they anticipate will be their most successful year.
The North East independent firm of chartered surveyors has experienced a surge of new instructions across all departments as business sentiment has improved and to coincide with this upturn the firm has confirmed the appointment of Angus White as their new managing director.
Angus, who takes over the lead from practice founder Bill Naylor, joined Naylors in 1998 as head of asset management and has grown the department from a standing start to a portfolio of over ninety properties.
Angus said: “Whilst continuing to be responsible for the property and asset management team where recent instructions have taken the annual rental roll to over £5 million, myself, Bill and the other directors will be working hard to capitalise on the firm’s solid foundations to take the business forward to new levels.”
Martyn Pullin has been promoted to partner at Insolvency and Recovery Stockton-based BWC Business Solutions.
Martyn joined BWC in 2008 and has worked alongside Partner David Willis in establishing the firm’s Tees Valley office based in Stockton on Tees.
Having qualified as an accountant in 2005 and as an insolvency practitioner in 2010, Martyn has assisted numerous businesses and individuals facing financial difficulties across the North East and Yorkshire.

North East-based full service marketing consultancy, r//evolution marketing, has announced the appointment of a new public relations manager.
Anne-Marie Bailey, an experienced communicator and accredited practitioner of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, joins the award-winning team based at the Northern Design Centre in Gateshead, to manage PR activity for a number of regional and national clients.
Gill Burgess, managing director of r//evolution marketing, said: “I am confident that Anne-Marie will be a huge asset to r//evolution.
