Chris Potter

This week’s North East appointments

North East accountancy firm Tait Walker has welcomed new associate partner Chris Potter into the team.

Chris, who previously worked at PWC and KPMG, brings his ‘big four’ experience to the management team at Tait Walker, in a role which will see him deliver and manage audit work and business development across Tait Walker’s varied client sectors.

Chris said: “Tait Walker is a well-respected firm, and its ambition is very much aligned with mine – I wanted to stay working in the region I was born and bred in, and work for an established yet proactive, full service accountancy firm.

“I worked with many large and fast-growth businesses in my previous roles and I wanted to join a mid-tier firm where I could really get involved in this kind of work and help North East businesses.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting with new clients and finding out more about their businesses. Whilst the UK economy isn’t completely out of the woods, there are some true North East success stories out there – companies doing well and succeeding in the current climate, and I can’t wait to meet some of them.”

Lee Watson joins Clive Owen & Co LLP

Accountancy and business advisory firm Clive Owen & Co LLP have recruited a new senior tax manager to tackle new initiatives.

Lee Watson, of Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, joins the firm having gained extensive experience working with a number of large practices in the North East.

Lee, who will be based at Clive Owen’s Darlington office, gained a first class degree in maths from Northumbria University before going on to pass his Association of Taxation Technicians and Chartered Institute of Tax examinations to become a chartered tax adviser.

Alan Moore, a tax partner at the firm, said: “We’re delighted that Lee has joined us. This is a newly created senior post at Clive Owen and the aim is to give the tax partners support within the firm as well as helping to drive forward new initiatives.”

Lee added: “I’m looking forward to working with bigger clients and adding to the first class service that Clive Owen & Co provides.

“Hopefully I can make my mark with a few improvements and help our clients sleep a little easier by taking away their tax worries.”

Accountancy firm, Evolution LLP has promoted two members of its team into senior roles and appointed one as a new director as it continues to expand.

The Tees Valley practice, which is rapidly growing due to an expanding client base, has promoted Andrew Rowe, Angeline Stewart and Chris McCann.

Mr Rowe, who was a senior manager before he was appointed director, has been with the accountancy firm since its formation while Angeline Stewart is now one of Evolution’s audit and accounts managers, and Chris McCann has become IT manager.
