Emailmovers provides heavyweight support to Scarborough Amateur Boxing Club
A global digital marketing agency based in Scarborough is putting its heavyweight support behind a local sports club and is urging other local businesses to do the same.
Emailmovers which is run by brothers Jamie and Duncan Gledhill and counts Experian, IBM, Microsoft, Cisco, Continental Tyres and Love Film amongst its 4,000 strong global client base, is sponsoring Scarborough Amateur Boxing and Sporting Club, which has plans to redevelop its premises at Seamer Road.
Jamie Gledhill said: “Involvement in organised competitive sport provides a great foundation to develop life skills and leadership qualities that are so often found in successful business environments. We wholeheartedly support head coach John Brownlie and Scarborough ABC members in this and share their passion for boxing.”
Scarborough ABC often raises funds through donations from local people, businesses and by staging its own boxing shows which generate funds through admission fees and sponsorship. The next event is taking place at the Blue Dolphin Holiday Park at Gristhorpe Bay on Thursday 22nd May, where not only will Scarborough ABC boxers be facing tough opposition but so too will boxers from the other clubs situated along the Yorkshire coast, including Westway ABC, Bridlington ABC and the newly formed Whitby ABC.
John Brownlie, head coach, says: “All the boxers taking part have trained hard and prepared meticulously in order to deliver what is sure to be an action packed event as they face opponents from Hull, Barnsley, Rotherham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Derby, York and Doncaster.”
Scarborough ABC has a 40 year track record of helping young people achieve stability and fulfil their potential by combining fun activities with hard work, structure and discipline.
The club welcomes male and female members from diverse backgrounds, all ages and of different levels of ability. It provides a safe environment to train, supervised by ABAE qualified staff, two of whom have participated at international level.
John Brownlie adds: “The club has enjoyed its share of success over the years with a number of boxers going on to win county and national championships, which has been followed by some winning county and national selection. Such success has given the boxers the opportunity to travel to other parts that they may perhaps not have otherwise afforded to visit.
“We are delighted that Emailmovers has provided sponsorship of our T-shirts and have pledged to back our plans to redevelop and refurbish our existing premises. We need more local support to make our dreams a reality – we’d like to create shower facilities, a meeting/conditioning room and widen the existing gym area to provide suitable facilities to stage junior boxing events. We’d also like to convert an outside area into an all-weather sports facility to encourage even more people to get active and improve their physical fitness.”
Emailmovers has a global data reach in excess of 100 million opted-in email addresses. It has developed technologies that create and maintain accurate targeted email databases, deliver email marketing campaigns, lead generation and e-commerce. It also helps and advises businesses in developing effective digital marketing strategies that increase sales.
The entrepreneurial brothers set up Emailmovers in 2004. The company now operates from Pindar House on Thornburgh Road.
Scarborough ABC train between 6-8pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Seniors are £2 per session or £5 for the week, juniors are £1 per session or £2 for the week.
