Events firm shoots for the sky

A leading North East events company is now sky high with success after catering for a group of sharp shooting businessmen and women.

1879 Events Management, which operates as a one-stop shop for event organisers across the region, recently lent its expertise to the annual Bond Dickinson clay pigeon shoot, in aid of the Princes Trust, for the third consecutive year.

The event, held at the Lambton Estate, County Durham, featured 25 teams from a variety of businesses going head to head in a clay pigeon shoot-out, followed by a special guest appearance by former England and British Lions international rugby union player, Neil Back CBE.

1879 Events Management, which also manages catering and hospitality at the Stadium of Light and National Glass Centre, Sunderland, provided breakfast for the 100 attendees, along with a champagne reception and formal three-course dinner for 200.

The dinner, which included dishes such as apple, celery and smoked chicken tian, individual lamb en croute and a brandy basket filled with strawberries, was served in a specially-erected marquee, where 1879 had also arranged a private bar.

John Marshall, Vice Chairman of Bond Dickinson commented: “We are proud to continue our support of the Prince’s Trust and help organise this clay shoot event with them. Our supporters help the Trust to raise money which can transform the lives of disadvantaged young people in the North East.

“The team at 1879 Events Management has again helped us organise a memorable event and I would like to thank them for their professionalism and support. We rate them very highly.” Proceeds from the clay pigeon shoot were donated by Bond Dickinson to the Prince’s Trust, with 1879 Events Management helping to boost the fundraising total by donating tickets to the forthcoming blinkbox music North East Live concert at the Stadium of Light as an auction prize.

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director for 1879 Events Management, said: “Since its launch in 2012 1879 Events Management has catered for a wide range of events, from leading LGBT festival Newcastle Pride to a variety of business dinners and awards.

“The Bond Dickinson clay pigeon shoot is one of the most unique events in our calendar and we are thrilled to be able to lend our expertise to this gathering year after year.”
