Lisa makes it a first for Intraining
National training provider Intraining is celebrating its first success on the new Skills Support for the Workforce (SSfW) programme.
Office administrator Lisa Holmes has become its first learner to complete the training, gaining a Spreadsheet Software Level 3 qualification.
Her employer, Newcastle-based John Kesson (Lifting Equipment) Ltd is also celebrating - under Government-funded SSfW the company didn’t have to pay a penny for the training Lisa received.
SSfW provides valuable free support to small and medium sized companies which often struggle to find time or resources for the staff training needed to develop their business.
Employees also benefit from the free training and an improved CV.
SSfW enabled Lisa, 44, of Walkergate, Newcastle, to gain a recognised qualification through a bespoke training programme designed by Intraining to meet her needs and those of her employers.
She said: “The qualification has boosted my CV and given me something to be proud of.”
Her spreadsheet skills have benefited both the marketing and accounts departments at John Kesson (Lifting Equipment), based on Hawick Crescent Industrial Estate, in Walker Road.
She has used them to research and compare stock costs, improving stock-taking efficiency, and to examine the cost-effectiveness of transporting goods via different routes.
Company Secretary Gordon Burten [correct] said: “We’re a small company of just seven staff so the fact that Intraining provided all the SSfW training on-site was a huge bonus to us. It caused no disruption to our day-to-day work.
“It’s been great for Lisa personally and she’s helped us in a lot of different ways thanks to her new spreadsheet skills.”
