Chester marketing agency, ARMSTRONG, encourages people to give blood.

Did you know that when giving blood, one person’s donation has the ability to save the lives of three adults or seven babies?

It’s a fact made all the more powerful when you consider that practically anyone - of any age, background or social status - is able to do it, yet currently only 4% of the UK’s adult population are registered to donate.

Cleary awareness is an issue. So, to highlight just how easy and rewarding it is to give blood, Chester marketing agency Armstrong has spent May taking the message to local businesses and clients.

In a drive to persuade people to become more ‘arm-strong’, the campaign has seen Armstrong’s Alex Owen walk up Snowdon with members of MBNA and Chester Universities Thornton High Growth Centre. They also managed to sign up 50 donors, from local businesses Let Alliance, IEC Ltd, Alpha Beauty Clinic, Spinney Day Nursery and Armstrong themselves, from their base at Bell Meadow Business Park in Pulford, collecting enough donations to help 150 adults or 350 babies.

The message from Armstrong is clear though - there’s still time to get involved. They’re encouraging as many local businesses as possible to sign up and donate this summer.

Commenting on the project, Claire Williams of NHS Blood and Transplant said: “The ‘We Are Armstrong’ campaign has been invaluable for NHS Blood and Transplant. The team have brought numerous donors to donate at the Chester session and have registered many more for other sessions. We are so grateful for the support, as are the many recipients of the blood products at local hospitals.”

So why don’t you give blood this summer? Nearly anyone can do it, all it costs is your time, and your donation could make a real difference.
