WINNing team lay down corporate challenge for North East firms
A TEAM of legal experts from one of Newcastle’s leading law firms is challenging other north east professionals to test their fitness as part of Newcastle’s first triathlon in July.
Winn Solicitors is sponsoring Newcastle Triathlon’s ‘corporate wave’ which will see teams of four or more compete for the prestigious ‘top corporate team’ position whilst also raising money for local charity The Chronicle Sunshine Fund.
The Winn Solicitors Corporate Challenge, part of the main Newcastle Triathlon event, includes a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run around the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides, and is specifically for businesses with one corporate team awarded the coveted ‘Top Team Trophy’.
Managing director at Winn Solicitors Jeff Winn says their team is all set for the race and will be aiming for pole position at this year’s inaugural event.
“Our team is ready and raring to go. We have no doubt that the triathlon will be testing and competitive, but it’s an excellent team building exercise, a great way of raising funds for a fantastic charity and a great event for Newcastle and Gateshead.
“Winn Solicitors has a well established relationship with The Chronicle Sunshine Fund as we know what a positive difference it makes to people across the North East, our staff are always keen to raise money for this worthwhile cause.”
Corporate teams already signed up include IHC Engineering Business, Alnorthumbria Vetinary Group, Quorum Business Park, Costain and HMS Calliope, who all compete alongside the hundreds of individual competitors already entered.
The Chronicle Sunshine Fund supports disabled children in the North East. Caroll Pattison at The Sunshine Fund said: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Newcastle Triathlon. It’s going to be an absolutely brilliant event for competitors and spectators, and the fact that our charity will benefit is of course an added bonus.
“The ongoing support and sponsorship from local businesses such as Winn Solicitors is absolutely vital to us and greatly appreciated. They help us to make a lot of disabled children’s lives better.”
There is still time to sign up for the corporate challenge, but Gary Wright from organisers VO2 Max Racing Events advises to enter soon as the deadline is rapidly approaching.
He said: “This will be a great event - highly competitive, but also very rewarding for all those involved – I’d urge any business to sign up for what will be an enjoyable experience for any team.
“Knowing just how competitive the north east business community is, I’m sure we will have a hotly contested race on our hands.”
The Newcastle Triathlon takes place on Saturday 19th July 2014 on Newcastle and Gateshead’s Quaysides.
