Northallerton manufacturer sets sights on international expansion
A Northallerton manufacturer has won the chance to grow their business overseas due to NatWest’s Trade Mission Competition.
Technowash was one of five businesses selected by a panel of expert judges as best demonstrating their exporting potential.
The prize includes a business trip to one of their target markets as well as pre-arranged meetings with potential clients and suppliers.
Technowash is now working with NatWest’s manufacturing team to determine their overseas strategy and craft their winning trip to maximise the benefit to their businesses.
Tony Grayson of Technowash said: “We are delighted to have been named among the winners of NatWest’s Trade Mission Competition.
“The support from the bank will mean we can target new regions and business opportunities and expand our operations abroad. This will mean increased turnover and profit from a sales area previously unexplored”
Run as part of a pilot, the competition invited entries from manufacturers from across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
NatWest is now looking in to how it can incorporate the successful elements of the competition into their support for businesses looking to expand internationally.
Judges included Works Management editor Max Gosney, Andy Tuscher from EEF and David Coppock from UKTI.
The five winning entrants had to demonstrate a strong business case for expanding overseas, and show they are passionate about making the most of the opportunity over the medium and long-term.
Mark Eastwood, head of Manufacturing for Commercial Banking at NatWest, said: “This is the first time we have run a competition like this and it has been great to see the reaction we have had so far.
“There are huge opportunities for British manufacturers to do business overseas and we are delighted to be supporting them in expanding their exporting reach. Our winners showed huge potential and I look forward to hearing about their successful business trips over the coming months.”
