High flying company wins Employer of the Year award for apprenticeship scheme
Annitsford-based aviation company, Naljets, has scooped the Employer of the Year award at Newcastle City Learning’s Celebration of Success Awards, in recognition of its successful apprenticeship scheme.
Naljets provides aircraft management services to businesses and private jet owners, as well as charter sales services for customers looking to travel on aircraft ranging from small regional airplanes to large business jets.
As part of Newcastle City Learning’s apprenticeship scheme, which is aimed at young people looking to kick start their professional careers, Naljets has employed four business and admin apprentices and has another starting at the end of this month.
The company has had great success with the scheme so far. Beth Winter and Steph Parkin both completed apprenticeships and within 12 months were propelled into permanent jobs at Naljets. Beth now works in accounts while Steph is Operations Manager for global private jet flight management.
Matthew Huddard and Andrew Barnett are also currently undertaking apprenticeships.
Sue Gregg, HR Manager at Naljets, is responsible for mentoring the apprentices while also working as an English Lecturer at Newcastle College.
Sue said: “We’re delighted to be recognised for our commitment to hiring and training apprentices – it’s something that is really important to us. As Naljets is such a unique and specialist company, taking on young people as apprentices and developing them ensures that they are a perfect fit for their job role.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity for the apprentices to gain insight into the company and to learn essential skills that will take them to the next level.”
