Taylor&Emmet Takes on Gym Team in Battle of Bikes

Solicitors from Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP are saddling up to test their cycling stamina against fitness professionals from Spa Naturel at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel.

To mark the arrival of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, the two local businesses will be going head to head next Friday (July 4) to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Held on the terrace of St Paul’s Hotel, next to Sheffield’s winter gardens, the teams from Taylor&Emmet and Spa Naturel Fitness will take part in a first past the post race over a distance of 390km, which is equivalent to the full Yorkshire leg of the Grand Depart.

The Battle of the Bikes team captains, Rob Moore, head of Taylor&Emmet’s business legal services and Phil Harper, manager of Spa Naturel Fitness, will kick off the relay at 8am and set the initial pace. The first team to complete the challenge will be presented with the winners’ yellow jersey by Zoe Barraclough, Alzheimer’s Society’s community fundraiser for South Yorkshire and the Humber.

To mark the occasion and show support for their cycling colleagues, staff at Taylor&Emmet’s offices in Sheffield, Dronfield and Bakewell will be participating in a yellow-themed dress down day.

Claire Fletcher, Taylor&Emmet’s marketing coordinator, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to this event, with plenty of volunteers ready to pit their pedal power against the Spa Naturel team. I cannot thank Phil and his colleagues enough for their support and we are looking forward to a good clean fight on Friday, not only demonstrating our enthusiasm for the Grand Depart, but also raising much needed funds for our annual charity.”

Taylor&Emmet has nominated the Alzheimer’s Society as its charity for 2014 and a number of fundraising initiatives are being held throughout the year.
