New Range of Furniture for Challenging Environments
Creating a safe environment for those with mental health issues has long been a challenge. Supporting management and front line staff in this task, Yorkshire based furniture manufacturer James Spencer has created a specialist line of items designed specifically for these environments. To keep both service users and staff safe, the designs include heavy-duty chairs that are difficult to lift, one-piece beds with integrated headboards and sofas with no piping or areas for concealment.
Company chairman Richard Spencer comments: “Over the years our focus has always been on responding to customer demand. Changes in the way mental health is viewed have created new, comfortable environments but this in turn has created fresh issues for staff safety. We have designed products that fulfil both criteria.”
In response to demand from, amongst others, mental health units, specialists schools and prisons, James Spencer has created a mental health furniture website dedicated to this range. While the furniture is extremely robust, it is aesthetically designed to create a calm and relaxing environment. The team at James Spencer are constantly adding new items to the range, making furnishings to order and innovating in this growing field.
