Summer sizzles at the Stadium of Light

Burgers, sausages and a whole host of barbecue favourites are helping to boost bookings at one of the North East’s leading venues.

The Stadium of Light, which caters for corporate and private events involving up to 1000 guests, is now running a special outdoor catering package for summer 2014.

The aptly-named Sizzling Summer package, available until the end of August, includes a unique BBQ dinner or alfresco lunch, a complimentary glass of Pimms, unlimited refreshments throughout the event and a stadium tour.

Designed to be adaptable to every function, from training days to meetings, the package also incorporates full day hire of any of the venue’s function suites.

This includes the Riverview Brasserie and James Herriot Suite, which both boast private balconies and panoramic views across the River Wear – perfect for alfresco dining or entertaining.

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director for SAFC and 1879 Events Management, said: “With the Sizzling Summer package we’re offering businesses the chance to make the most of the great weather we’re currently experiencing and, where appropriate, inject a more informal, summer-time feel into their events.”

SAFC subsidiary 1879 Events Management, which operates as a one-stop shop for event organisers at the Stadium of Light and for a wide range of external events, also manages catering and hospitality at the National Glass Centre, Sunderland.

This particular venue, which boasts views across the River Wear, can cater for up to 300 guests and will also be running a special seasonal menu throughout the summer.
