Hay & Kilner, Paul Illes

Newcastle based law firm Hay & Kilner has announced a promotion within its residential property team.

Paul Illes, who started his career at Hay & Kilner in 2004, has been promoted to associate solicitor. This promotion demonstrates the firm’s record of retaining key personnel and its long-standing commitment to professional development.

Paul has over 10 years’ experience advising clients on a wide range of residential property matters including sales, purchases, transfers, re-mortgaging & property trust work. He regularly advises landlords and tenants in enfranchisement and lease extension claims. Paul has a strong client focused ethos, evidenced by his client base which continues to grow.

The residential property team at Hay & Kilner has seen significant growth over the last 12 months and now has a team of 10 specialist solicitors, legal executives & paralegals.

Newcastle firm durhamlane is gearing up for further expansion and demand for its outsourced sales services expertise with two senior appointments.

The company’s push for growth in the south of England and London is being led by new associate partner Mark Taylor, who joins from global information technology company HP.

Also joining to support expansion will be new sales performance consultant Paul Hardcastle.

Managing partner Lee Durham said: “We are putting the foundations in place to take us forward over the next few years, and Mark and Paul’s appointments will be pivotal in achieving our ambitions and add real value to new and existing client services. “Both are highly experienced operators and will be major assets, able to hit the ground running to quickly identify and win quality new business. Gordon Brown, Andrea Hanna

North East law firm, Gordon Brown, has appointed Andrea Hanna as associate solicitor of the firm.

Following ten years’ experience in conveyancing, Andrea has risen through the ranks at Gordon Brown Law Firm, which has offices in Newcastle and Chester le Street.

She first joined Gordon Brown in 2008 to concentrate on conveyancing after training in criminal defence, property and probate. Her role involves managing a team of five solicitors and legal executives, maintaining relationships with referrers and assisting with the development of the conveyancing department.

Andrea said: “After getting in touch with Gordon Brown and the team, I knew straight away it was one that I wanted to be a part of. They are a forward-thinking firm with a solid structure in place.

“I love the fast pace of the job, dealing with clients on a one to one basis and providing the best possible service.
