North West law firm secures new site for expanding transport firm

North West Law Firm, Hillyer McKeown have announced that they have advised on and facilitated a deal that will see Edge Transport Ltd acquire a 6 acre site on the Deeside Industrial Estate.

The multi-million pound move from Llay to Deeside will allow the award winning transport business to increase volume, take on extra staff and ensure the company can continue to see significant growth for many years to come.

A third generation family business, Edge Transport offers a wide range of quality pallet delivery, distribution and storage solutions.

Currently based in Llay, the company was founded in Hoole, Chester in 1933 and has an envied reputation for quality and service. Operating a fleet of over 30 vehicles, the company currently delivers excellent service for over 500 customers across the UK.

The 6 acre site, formerly owned by Dandy’s Topsoil, will be developed over time to include a new, purpose-built 100,000 sq ft warehouse, transhipment area and office block, allowing the business to expand to meet increasing customer demands.

Speaking about the legal advice and support provided to Edge Transport, Chris Morris, Associate Solicitor at Hillyer McKeown, said: “We are delighted to have helped secure this site for our client. With ambitious plans to expand, their existing site no longer provided the flexibility needed for future growth. Advising on and securing this site for Edge Transport now provides them with the ideal business location, giving them plenty of scope to drive their business forward. The plans for relocation are now underway and should be fully operational by early summer 2015.”

Jenny Edge, Commercial Director at Edge Transport commented: “Deeside is a great location and the right place for us to be moving forward. It’s great to have the support of Hillyer McKeown who have been a valued legal partner for us, advising on and securing this new site. Chris’s commercial knowledge of the local area meant that he fully understood our vision to secure the former Dandy’s Topsoil site.”

Rachel Hughes, solicitor within Hillyer McKeown’s Employment team, has also been handling employment matters for the transport firm.

“The new site will allow us to significantly grow the business, taking us from our existing 2 acre site to a 6 acre site. We’re delighted that our existing staff will be making the move with us and will be part of our long term future. With plans to take on more apprentices and expand the training we currently offer for staff, the new site will help us to enhance our investment in our people.” Said Jenny.
