Dizzying heights for de Winter
A member of a North West PR team took fundraising to new heights when she scaled the three highest peaks in the UK as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
To mark 25 years in the business, de Winter PR & Marketing has launched a ‘pay it forward’ initiative designed to encourage not only its staff, but the local community, to undertake a series of good deeds and challenges to raise money for charity and spread the feel-good factor across the region.
In what is sure to be one of the high points of the campaign, de Winter account executive Elle Brunton conquered the three highest points in the UK – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon – in just three days.
Raising money for the mental health charity Mind in memory of a friend, Jo Gray, who tragically took her own life last year, Elle and four friends travelled to Scotland, the Lake District and Snowdonia in Wales, conquering a mountain a day and raising more than £1,593 for the charity.
Elle said: “I’ve never done anything like that before and the feeling when we’d finished it was amazing. But it wasn’t easy, and the support and generous donations flooding in, as well as the memory of Jo, really kept us going. We’re so grateful to everyone who sponsored us and helped us raise such a fantastic amount of money for such an important cause.”
CEO Hems de Winter said: “We’re incredibly proud of Elle’s achievement. She’s set a brilliant example and I hope that her efforts will encourage others to make a difference within their own communities in their own way.”
Anyone wishing to increase Elle’s ‘Three Peaks’ total can still donate to Mind via JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/Elle-Brunton1/ or visit the Mind website for details on more ways to support the charity: http://www.mind.org.uk/
