'Jelly legs' fundraising challenge set for North East firms

AN annual fundraising challenge has been confirmed for another year thanks to Wallsend-based IT and business consultancy firm, Forfusion.

Forfusion has signed up to sponsor North East charity Calvert Trust’s ‘Kielder Quest’, a corporate fundraising initiative which this year raised more than £5,000 to support services for disabled people, their families and carers.

Forfusion CEO, Steve Forrest, is delighted to be more involved: “As a business with its roots firmly in the North East, we think it’s important to support local charities. We are big admirers of Calvert Trust Kielder and the amazing services and support it provides so when the opportunity came up to get involved we were very keen.

“Calvert Trust Kielder is a fantastic resource right on our doorstep which makes a big, positive difference to a lot of people. We are proud that we are going to be part of that good work.

“The fact that we get to take part in the Kielder Quest is an added bonus. I’ve heard it’s a hotly-contested event so we shall definitely be upping our game and getting some training in between now and March.”

The challenge, which involves physical and mental water and land based challenges including high ropes, archery, climbing and laser clay shooting, is specifically for businesses from across the region and sees one team win the coveted ‘Kielder Quest Trophy’.

Calvert Trust Kielder’s CEO, Peter Cockerill, has welcomed Forfusion’s support and is asking other businesses to sign up to the challenge as soon as they can.

He said: “We’re thrilled to have Forfusion on board. The support of such a successful, ambitious and growing business is fantastic news for us and the many people we help.

“It’s a fun event but also highly competitive so we’re asking other businesses to follow Forfusion’s lead and get in touch now to sign up and pledge their support.

“Kielder Quest is just one of our many fundraising activities though - if your business wants a more relaxing chance to support us there’s The Calvert Ball in October - strictly no waterproofs required and all help gratefully appreciated!.”

Kielder Quest takes place on 5-6 March 2015 at Calvert Trust Kielder. For further information on Kielder Quest or The Calvert Ball visit www.calvert-trust.org.uk/kielder or call Hazel Ditchburn on 01434 250232.
