MR Solutions displays preclinical MRI imaging solutions to ISMRM in Edinburgh
MR Solutions showed their ground-breaking, cryogen free 3T and 7T preclinical MRI imaging solutions to British magnetic resonance imaging researchers at the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting held by the British Chapter of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. The meeting was held on September 4 – 5, 2014 in Edinburgh.
MR Solutions is the world’s largest independent developer and manufacturer of preclinical MRI technology and was the first company to develop a commercial cryogen free 3T range of preclinical bench top MRI scanners in 2012, followed by the more powerful 7T range in 2014.
David Taylor, the CEO, of MR Solutions explained the company’s philosophy: “We are always looking at ways to go one step further and have developed multi-modality technology incorporating SPECT and PET, with Optical technology also due. All our advancements have been down to our radical development of a cooling system for the superconducting magnet which does away with the need for the expensive and cumbersome cryogen cooling system. This has also allowed us to reduce the stray magnetic field to only a few centimetres, rather than metres. Now that multi-modality technology can be used in the same room it makes it so much easier for researchers to produce multifaceted research results.”
The company has over 30 years’ experience and in excess of 1000 installations across the world. Its scanners are renowned for their excellence in terms of superior soft tissue contrast and molecular imaging ability.
MR Solutions has recently started a division to refurbish or upgrade older preclinical MRI systems with their latest EVO Spectrometer for greater performance. The refurbishment of MRI scanners is a growing market as facilities struggle with reduced budgets and old equipment can be brought right up-to-date much more cost effectively than buying a replacement.
