Could be most valuable employee benefit
Employers should pay for professional retirement planning advice for employees when they reach retirement - a gesture that could make a huge financial difference for those individuals affected, according to Nick Flynn, Divisional Director at LEBC, The Retirement Adviser.
“I know it would be an additional cost for employers but it would be a one-off cost and the value and goodwill generated could be huge - I could really see it being regarded as one of the most valuable employee benefits.
“We have a solution whereby we can provide professional advice that can cost from £400 per employee, which may equate to one or two additional monthly pension contributions from the employer, whereas the industry average is around £2,000 per individual.”
