Sunderland’s FIRST Codepub
On Thursday 11th of September at the Software Centre Code Club hosted its first event with the help of Baltic Training apprentices and FIRST Face to Face.
Codepub is an event set up to raise awareness about after school ‘code clubs’ for children between the ages of 9 -11.
With 50 guests in attendance the evening was spent connecting with IT companies and school leaders. For the apprentices this was also an opportunity to practise their newly learnt skills that they had picked up in a networking workshop delivered by FIRST Face to Face the week before.
The event was kindly sponsored by Bob Paton, MD of Accenture and Vice Chairman of the Dynamo the North East IT Forum. Bob strongly believes in driving forward the IT skills agenda in the North East, with a particular interest in creating more Code Clubs and IT Apprentices.
