Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors and Victoria House Funeral Service are coming together to give an afternoon of presentations and exhibitions to take the mystery out of funerals and the events that surround the passing of a loved one.

Carolyn Tilly, partner at Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors and head of the firm’s Wills and Probate department, said: “Don’t worry that this might be dull or depressing. Whilst the subject is sensitive, the afternoon will be light-hearted but informative, with breaks, a quiz and a prize draw, as well as an enjoyable afternoon tea.

“We’re planning this to help people understand what can happen when a loved one passes away. Hopefully that knowledge will take away some of the stress at an inevitably difficult time.”

Speakers at the event include Carolyn Tilly from Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors, Apolena Wilson from Victoria House Funeral Service, John Thompson from Blue House Woodland Burials and Linda Parker from Hartlepool Bereavement Service. Also Pastor Dave Russon will talk about understanding the spiritual side of end of life care.

Apolena Wilson added: “If you haven’t had to deal with a death in the family before, then how are you going to know what to expect, and what help is available? This shouldn’t be a taboo subject and through this event we’re aiming to raise awareness of the choices so that people can be prepared.”
