Potential tycoons to benefit from intellectual property tips

Lawyer Deborah Niven will be on hand to give intellectual property advice to budding entrepreneurs taking part in the University of Sheffield’s MADE Festival.

Deborah, who also specialises in information technology and commercial law at hlw Keeble Hawson, one of Yorkshire’s largest law firms, is an expert at the Entrepreneurs Pub on September 24 designed to help start-up businesses.

Explained Deborah: “It is crucial that fledgling businesses understand and protect their intellectual property - particularly if there is any collaboration with another company or institution. Sometimes in the excitement of setting up a business, entrepreneurs may forget about the legalities that have to be in place before they get on making money.”

Darren Chouings, University of Sheffield enterprise officer, said: “The Entrepreneurs Pub will be a fantastic opportunity for the city to celebrate entrepreneurship in a relaxed and social environment. Our expert meetings, which give real insight into business and practical tips, should be a great asset to early stage entrepreneurs.”

Deborah will be meeting entrepreneurs on Wednesday September 24 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at The Great Gatsby in Sheffield. For more information, please visit www.enterprise.shef.ac.uk or call Darren Chouings on 0114 222 4041.
