Hill Dickinson’s marathon campaign reaches Manchester

Law firm Hill Dickinson has arrived at the Manchester leg of its 60at60 campaign, an ambitious health and well-being initiative launched across the firm’s eight offices in an effort to raise £60,000 for local charitable projects.

The ‘60at60 challenge’ was inspired by senior partner David Wareing, who turned 60 this year. David challenged each of the firm’s offices to join him in improving their own fitness and that of the communities in which they operate, by training and competing in a locally based half marathon while raising funds for charitable projects which have a focus on health and wellbeing. David and 8 members of Hill Dickinson’s Manchester office, will be taking part in the Macclesfield half marathon on September 28th in a bid to raise money for the Prince’s Trust as well as Greater Manchester’s largest hospice, St Ann’s.

David, who is running all eight half marathons, has successfully completed races in Monaco, Liverpool, Athens and Singapore, as well as the infamous rebel runners race in Sheffield.

Commenting on 60at60, David said: “At the beginning, the prospect of taking part in eight half marathons over a seven month period was extremely daunting, however, now that we are five races in, I cannot believe we are already nearing the finish line and I am really looking forward to joining our Manchester colleagues in the Macclesfield Half Marathon and raising more money for the causes we are supporting as a business in our local areas.

“This challenge is the first of its kind for Hill Dickinson; it is more than just a fundraising initiative supporting charitable projects, we are encouraging the whole firm to actively participate in order to improve health and wellbeing on an individual and collective level.

“The challenge has been met with enthusiasm not just from employees but their families and also clients. I am delighted so many individuals have signed up to the challenge.”

Over 200 individuals across the firm have either joined David in the half marathons or are in training for the remaining three. Their combined efforts have already raised over £30,000 towards the £60,000 total which is being raised for charitable projects local to each of Hill Dickinson’s offices including Manchester’s St Ann’s Hospice which cares and helps patients and their families and carers who are affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

Head of Hill Dickinson’s Manchester office, Geraldine Ryan, who will also be running in the Macclesfield half marathon, commented; “We are delighted to be supporting both The Prince’s Trust and St Ann’s Hospice as part of 60at60. The challenge this initiative brings has been welcomed across the firm - and certainly here in Manchester. Myself and the team are looking forward to getting involved and raising funds for two fantastic charities.”
