Seasonal feast promises a gastronomic winter wonderland

Winter is on its way – and bringing a taste of fine food and wine to the North East.

On Friday November 14, the Stadium of Light, Sunderland will be marking the changing seasons with a special gourmet evening, showcasing world-famous wines and the finest winter produce.

The five-course feast, specially prepared by SAFC’s catering and hospitality arm, 1879 Events Management, will begin with a winter salad of beetroot, pickled mushrooms, goats curd and walnuts, followed by a shellfish terrine, served with herb crème fraiche.

For the main course guests will enjoy roast tenderloin with braised oxtail, red wine shallots, potato confit, celeriac and winter mushrooms.

This will be followed by a dessert of Palet D’or with griottine cherries and a selection of local cheeses.

Each dish will be accompanied by a different wine, specifically chosen to complement the unique flavours and fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Tickets for the Winter Wonderland Gourmet Evening at the Stadium of Light are priced at £54.50 per person, including canapés on arrival. A 10 per cent discount is also available for SAFC season card holders.
