Retail deals at the double for Blackpool’s Talbot Gateway

Two retail deals totaling 8,912 sq ft have completed at Muse Developments’ new 25-acre Talbot Gateway Central Business District in Blackpool.

Global fast food chain Subway will be joined by Mr Basrai’s World Buffet which have taken 1,108 sq ft and 7,804 sq ft respectively.

The scheme also comprises a 120,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s store, a 126,000 sq ft Grade A office building and a multi-storey car park.

Acting as joint agents with Montagu Evans, Clare Taylor, chartered surveyor at Duxburys Commercial, said: “We are delighted to have secured these quality tenants so soon.

Phase 1 of the Talbot Gateway with its new occupiers has transformed the whole dynamic of the area and we wish the new tenants every success with their business.“

Mike Horner, regional director at Muse Developments, added: “Securing a number of active retail occupiers so quickly after the completion of phase 1 works is testament to the high quality transformation of this strategic location opposite Blackpool North railway station.

“There will be more than 1,500 people employed at Talbot Gateway and coupled with the footfall created via the train station we expect the new occupiers will flourish. Furthermore, we have an excellent level of interest in the remaining units and are hopeful of announcing further lettings imminently.”

When complete, Talbot Gateway will provide new retail, commercial and community space for Blackpool, in addition to town centre parking and transport.

To support the work, a comprehensive scheme of highways and public space improvements have been implemented, making the area safer and more accessible to motorists and pedestrians.

Cllr Fred Jackson, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for urban regeneration, said: “It’s fantastic for Blackpool the Talbot Gateway Central Business District is already attracting investment.

“This is just the start and we know already there is huge interest in the area from regional, national and multi-national companies.

“The level of interest is a testament to the quality of the improvements made to the area which is great news for the town.”

Other retail units available at the scheme range from 1,000 sq ft and 2,691 sq ft and are being marketed by Duxbury’s Commercial, DTZ and Montagu Evans.
