Manchester cupcake entrepreneur lands Selfridges deal creating 9 jobs

Sarah Wilson-Gibbons, owners of Hey Little Cupcake!, is launching her first concession at up-market department store Selfridges in the intu Trafford Centre, thanks for funding from Barclays.

Hey Little Cupcake!, which originated as a pop-up-shop before moving into permanent premises in Spinningfields, Manchester, sells a range of novelty cakes and cupcakes.

The city centre shop also has a cafe serving afternoon tea, and regularly hosts private parties for both adults and kids.

The new concession, which has created nine new jobs, taking the total number of staff to 19, is currently waiting to move into a concession in the New Year.

Barclays Bank has provided the business with £15k funding to help with the latest phase of expansion.

Sarah told MEN: “I’ve had a good relationship with Selfridges for a while now having worked with them previously from providing cakes for launch events such as their toy store launch and last year I supplied the store with cake pops.

“The opportunity to have a concession there has been great as it will help with greater brand awareness and reach out to more customers.

“I actually wanted to get into Selfridges sooner, but while we are expanding, I wanted to make sure I had the right staff and capabilities to run the Spinningfields shop as well as the business in Selfridges.
