New recruits and promotions for Shulmans QCAS

Leeds-based QCAS, a division of Shulmans LLP, has welcomed a raft of new recruits and is providing specialist training to a number of other staff with the intention of accelerating their career progression.

Leanne Thomas-Blair has been recruited as a solicitor from Wilsons, with specialities in residential conveyancing and private client work and Sarah West joins from Fishers as junior fee earner. Pam Kaur joins from Enact and will take up the role of legal assistant (Level 1) working with fee earners in the processing of conveyancing cases, as will new recruits Caroline Rutherford and Luke Battensby (both Level 2).

Promotions have been awarded to Shamila Mughal, who is now a fee earner, having previously been legal assistant at QCAS, Imran Ali, Lauren Howard and Laura Stewart have all been given their own caseloads with a view to working their way up to fee earners.

In addition, and as part of their career progression, Leigh Elliott (fee earner), Shamila, Laura, Lauren and Miles Pennett (Level 2 conveyancing assistant) have all embarked on the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) programme, all of them funded by Shulmans, with a view to their qualifying as legal executives.

Victoria Mortimer, Head of QCAS, said: “Our internal career progress scheme, Forward with Shulmans (FwS) is our unique career framework for progression to Associate and indeed progression to Partnership if you are a specifically qualified member of staff – solicitor or licensed conveyancer for example.

“FwS is a framework, so colleagues can pursue progression at their own pace, something that many Shulmans colleagues embrace. Each colleague on the scheme will meet regularly with their unit head who supports them through the entire process.

“I’m delighted to both welcome our new recruits and to congratulate all those who have been promoted.”
