Specsavers help put safety first for children in Kirkstall

CHILDREN in Kirkstall will now be safer when out and about in the community thanks to high-visibility vest donations from a local opticians.

Staff at Specsavers in Kirkstall will be handing out high-visibility vests to all children that visit the store in the run up to bonfire night, as part of an initiative set up by Specsavers to increase the safety of local children, when out and about in the local community.

Nick Ainley, retail director at Kirkstall Specsavers, comments: ’At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with the clocks going back, means that it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians and especially children.

’We wanted to help increase the safety of school children in Kirkstall by offering our younger customers high-visibility vests, so they can be better seen when visiting a local fireworks display this bonfire night.

‘Our safety initiative also aims to raise awareness of the free glasses and eye tests we offer to anyone under the age of 16. It is important to make sure that children have regular eye tests as an undetected problem in the early stages of development could lead to something more severe in the long term.’
