Trethowans legal firm continues to impress

Leading Solent law firm Trethowans is proud to announce that 22 of its lawyers and nine of its legal teams have been praised by the Chambers UK 2015 Directory. These results mean that 80% of Trethowans’ partners have been independently recognised as leading experts in their legal fields.

The legal directory, which is widely recognised as the ‘bible’ for selecting lawyers and law firms, ranks solicitors following independent interview-based research with peers and clients. Individual lawyers are ranked, in their practice-area on the basis of their legal knowledge and experience, their ability, their effectiveness and their client-service.

The solicitors from the law firm recognised in the latest directory include Band 1 rankings; the ‘incredibly approachable’ Marcus Thorpe for Agricultural and Rural Affairs; Clare Carter and Chris Whitley for Clinical Negligence; Elizabeth Webbe for Private Client; and Matthew Barker in Restructuring/Insolvency. The Personal Injury team of Clare Carter, Gavin Lane and Chris Whiteley were also recognised for their work while Kelvin Farmaner and his team have made their debut in the UK Wide listing for Personal Injury mainly defendant. Kelvin was recognised for his ‘constructive and analytical approach.’ Banking and Finance’s Nick Gent was noted for his ‘straight, commercial approach’ while Banking Litigation’s Jon Kelly gained widespread praise from clients, along with Licensing’s Caroline Matthews and Andrew Mercer from the Family and Matrimonial team. ‘Diligent’ Ian Grimshaw and the ‘extraordinarily competent’ Jon Loney from the employment team were listed. Managing Partner Simon Rhodes has been recognised in a new category of Eminent Practitioner for Employment law in Southampton and Surrounds. Partners Paul Longman, Caroline Probert, Jennifer Rogerson and Garry Treagust from Real Estate were listed for ‘showing the willingness to provide advice outside of the scope of instruction.’ Paula Eckton, Nick Gent and Michael Watson from corporate mergers and acquisitions were also listed as was Richard Cook for Litigation. A new addition to the guide came from the firm’s Social Housing team with Robert Wassall being noted as a Recognised Practitioner.
