£38 million deal as Warrington’s Ansell Lighting acquired by Endo Lighting
Warrington’s Ansell Lighting, which includes Warrington-based Ansell Electrical Products Limited and Belfast-based Ansell Sales and Distribution Limited, has been acquired by Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed Endo Lighting Corporation in a deal worth £38m.
The transaction completed on 14 November 2014.
Ansell, which employs 100 people, designs and distributes a diverse range of lighting products sold throughout the UK electrical wholesale industry.
The Ansell brand has been developed by the founder for over 20 years and is one of the leading lighting product brands in the market.
Osaka-headquartered Endo is a leading designer and seller of original lighting fixtures in Japan and internationally.
The company, which was founded in 1967 and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has a turnover in excess of £215m and a market capitalisation of £106m.
Ansell will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Endo, but will continue to be led by former shareholders Alan Nappin, Martin Prince and Michael Carson.
The transaction will support Ansell in its strategic ambitions of growth and international expansion.
A team from EY in the North West, led by Director Mark Clephan and Senior Manager Katherine Mutton, provided corporate finance advisory services to support the transaction.
Founder and managing director of Ansell, Alan Nappin said “We believe that Endo is the right home for Ansell, being a family owned business – led by father and son – which shares common values.
“The Endo reputation, LED expertise, R&D facilities and manufacturing capabilities will provide an exciting opportunity for everyone at Ansell.”
