Local travel agent celebrates success with the stars at annual conference

Whitley Bay based travel agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown joined fellow colleagues from across the globe, as well as a host of stars, to celebrate the success of their travel business at Travel Counsellors annual conference.

Lizzie is one of over 1,350 travel agents worldwide who run their own travel business with the support of award winning company Travel Counsellors. Lizzie was invited to attend the company’s special 20th Anniversary event at Manchester Central as a reward for her dedication to providing her customers with the highest levels of personal service. Lizzie was joined by over 1,500 delegates, including 750 fellow Travel Counsellors from across eight countries at the largest travel conference in the UK. The event showcased an array of special guests including a dramatic set from the ‘people’s tenor’ Russell Watson and an incredible performance by award winning megastars Simply Red & Mick Hucknall.

The event was underpinned by the theme ‘20 Together’ which celebrated Travel Counsellors landmark 20th anniversary, highlighting the company’s journey, growth and success over the past twenty years, as well as looking towards the future and all the exciting developments in store.

Hosted by TV personality Vernon Kay, the conference provided Lizzie with all the latest company developments and future plans, including news on new methods of creating tailor-made holidays and business trips for her customers. The event saw a record number of over 175 suppliers exhibiting at a dedicated session where Lizzie was able to meet directly with representatives from a host of tourist boards, hotels and airlines to learn first-hand about their products and destinations.

During her two-night stay in Manchester, Lizzie heard from a collection of guest speakers including business entrepreneur and first female winner of BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’ Michelle Dewberry who shared her inspirational story of her rise to success and how with passion, determination and focus we can achieve anything – even when faced with adversity. Delegates also heard an incredibly uplifting presentation from Matt Ridley, renowned scientist and best-selling author of “The Rational Optimist”, who shared his optimistic take on the future, sharing his unique insights on how the communication of ideas is the key to progress and success.

Lizzie commented, “I had an incredible time at the conference in Manchester. We were updated on the company’s future developments and given insightful travel advice and tips for the year ahead. It was a truly motivational weekend and I was inspired by the brilliant speakers. It has given me renewed motivation and focus for the year ahead and I am eager to utilise all I have learnt to benefit my customer’s needs.”
